The Ayodhya Deepotsav is a festival organized every year in context of Ayodhya, a town in Uttar Pradesh that belongs to India. The main attraction of the fair is the illumination of at least 250,000 diya lamps at the banks of the river Saryu. This year, the Deepotsav set two new Guinness World Records: one record for the largest number of lighted oil lamps at a time and another for the maximum number of people changing diya at one time.
The fest is spectacular, and artists from Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Indonesia, and other countries participate. This also organizes another form of Saryu aarti, for which Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath witnesses a huge crowd puller along with national-level travelers.
The Ayodhya Deepotsav festival has expanded from the year 2017, and the number of diyas brought every year is increasing dramatically. More than 31,000 volunteers, mostly college students, were involved in arranging the diyas, which formed a beautiful sight from the aerial view in 2024. Apart from retracing the cultural tour of the Ayodhya town, the occasion also aims to bring into the limelight the cohesiveness and devotion of the people of Ayodhya.
